BOOK DRIVE - MAY 9 - 10AM to 2PM
The public is encouraged to donate books, puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs, and magazines for upcoming sales and the bookstore. Volunteers are available to unload from your vehicle curbside. Follow signage and stop by the flagpole in front of the double doors in the front of the library. Donation receipts available. If possible, please have items in boxes or bags. There is no limit to the number of items, however we appreciate items in good condition, but do not accept the following:
- Boxes from attic or garage storage.
- Damaged books with broken bindings, missing pages, soiled, musty, and moldy, with smoke or water damage, or with excessive writing in the text.
- Outdated materials; cassettes or VHS tapes.
- Professional journals, textbooks, outdated computer manuals, or encyclopedias.

HANDS ACROSS THE HARBOR - MAY 16 - 10AM - WATERFRONT PARK, SAFETY HARBOR
The Friends of the Safety Harbor Library will hold a mini–Book Drive at Hands Across the Harbor and are asking participants to donate a book of their choice to in any genre, in good condition, to support the FOL Book Store and our Little Free Libraries. Participants also are encouraged to donate a can of soup to fill the pantry at the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center. Look for the BOOK DRIVE sign at the event.

The mission of the Friends of the Safety Harbor Library is to maintain Safety Harbor’s quality Library by sponsoring programs and helping to support new and existing services and technologies through membership and fundraising.

Library Sponsorships. It's what we do...
The Friends are proud sponsors of the Adult Summer Reading program, children's special summer performers, and prizes for youth summer literacy and so much more! The FOL are also supporters of the youth STEM program, purchasing many new interactive learning toys and items to support this important initiative. Along with the Library Foundation the Friends funded the StorWalk in the Art Park and the glass entryway door into the Children's Wing. Our Friends support teen events, an annual high school scholarship for volunteers, concerts, Little Free Libraries, Staff Day, Main Street Trick or Treat, the Holiday Parade, and many other programs. In fiscal year 2024, the FOL gifted $30,226 in goods and services to the Safety Harbor Public Library and sponsored countless programs for all ages! The Friends donated $35,000 to the City of Safety Harbor for the second floor library addition. Library staff can not do all they do without our Friends! Become a member and help us make our library shine.
